``The $19 million sale of the Kaufmann House in Palm Springs has fallen through, officials confirmed today... The 1946 modernist home, considered a masterpiece by architectural experts was sold as part of the Realty International New York Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening Sale at Christie's. It was thought to have fetched as much as $25 million, but actually sold for about $19 million, which included tax and other fees, and the purchase of an orchard next door to the house at 470 West Vista Chino Road in Palm Springs, officials said.''
