`` During the S&L crisis, five senators were found to have helped cover up some of the shenanigans going on at Charles Keating's Lincoln Savings and Loan and other thrifts. The Keating Five received only the mildest of slaps on the wrist, and one of them, of course, went on to run, unsuccessfully, for president.
But the current crisis is much bigger with far greater consequences, and the merest whiff of any complicity in fraud needs to be zealously investigated. Will someone please step up to the plate?''
