There was no indication what they were looking for or what crime, if any, was being investigated, just a blanket subpoena for voluminous and detailed records on every private citizen who dared to speak about a federal tax case.
Folks, it is getting worse. After experiencing an endless parade of frivolous libel/defamation lawsuits here at ML-Implode -- though all from private companies -- we are starting to see attacks directly by the government. It could not get more outlandish than subpoena'ing for commentors on an anonymous forum for off-the-cuff comments, with no "crime" even alleged. But no matter: this is a test of how much you, the people, will tolerate.
The goal here is undoubtedly to chill public comment in general, especially when it comes to sensitive areas like tax policy or (dare we say) the value of the dollar.
People, you had better speak up and do something. Otherwise forums like ML-Implode, and even "comment" sections on mainstream newspaper articles, will soon be gone. Or more likely, if they stay -- they will be heavily filtered and censored.
It's up to you to choose between the comfort of lies from the authorities, or knowing the truth, even if it is not so comforting.

(I was a FULL DOC - NO FRAUD ON MY BEHALF LOAN! PROVABLE FRAUD FROM WAMU, HOWEVER - ALREADY IN MY POSSESSION THROUGH DISCOVERY!) He replied - "not currently." Now you all know why the Implode-o-meter needs Attorneys from all over the country to help protect our First Amendment Rights. I have a really bad feeling about what's next....
