This is really quite a hilarious article. It looks like the mandarins over at the Grey Lady were really struggling with this one -- it's difficult to portray an asset as "volatile" when it rarely moves more than 1% a day (more stable than the stock market) and was actually a veritable safe haven in the recent commodities rout... but hell, I guess the Times doesn't expect many of its drooling dependents to actually check up on their sage "advice". So hold tight to those gold Eagles, sit back, read and enjoy -- knowing you'll probably see some nice gains from here (while the Times's readers sell because they're "down 4% after gaining 400%" since 2008. Oh wait, they never owned any, so this is all just mental masturbation for them...)
