G. Edward Griffin interviews Idaho Representative Phil Hart about the Idaho State Silver Gem Act, which may actually pass this year (after a bout of Tea Party "housecleaning" of the legislature).

Note that the video is critical of the introduced Georgia Constitutional Tender Law (which I testified on behalf of) for trying to push too far too soon.

While I can sympathize with that, I would turn the criticism on its head and ask what good the Idaho act will do by making NOTHING about silver usage compulsory -- not even for payment of taxes to the state (as required by the US constitution). In fact, while fiat money is accepted, one would be a dope to turn in one's good gold or silver when one can simply unload worthless toilet paper instead (actually, it's less useful than toilet paper). Look at it this way: every time you can hold on to your gold or silver instead of using it to make a payment, it's like BUYING that much gold and silver with zero transaction costs -- a sweet deal, indeed. I take it every opportunity I get.

Anyway, it is good to see this sort of thing at least for educational purposes, and to establish precious metals refining in the US again.
