"In some parts of the country, it doesn't take much to become a mortgage-loan officer. Not a license, not much training.

That's changing."

I know this is very, very important but I want this energy spent on job creation and stopping the values of housing from tanking...............Those two things will fix this mess, beating loan officers to death when there is only going to be one vanilla loan to write and ONE appraised value isn't going to fix much and waste a whole lot of money........... This is a good thing? What Planet Has This Person Been Living On?

Here in beautiful California real loan officers have been required to be licensed for years (DRE / DOC). It is the politicians that need some form of licensing program… and perhaps in many cases spaying or neutering.

It seems political dogs really can’t learn new tricks; Tax this, access fees for that, more fees for any and everything. The goverment needs more money! Quick add more layers of licensing fees, permit fees and assessment fees ect…

Training and additional licenses for lenders is not the real issue; just the excuse to add lots of additional government control and regulatory jobs plus, MORE FEES! Lots of additional Fees! Permalink
