"We'd like to be able to buy those mortgages" says Fannie Mae CEO Daniel Mudd -- Proof positive Fannie is expecting to be bailed out (why else would they want this toxic waste?) We're at a moment of truth, America: does housing become a part of the welfare state (which we'll all pay for), or do we let bubbles pop and punish just those who directly participated? And by the way, if we choose the former, Fannie needs to be de-listed right now -- end the "private company" charade.
