``As in many cities, foreclosures in Denver are now nearly ubiquitous. Every third block in the city has seen at least one in the past 1½ years, city records show. Last year alone, Denver averaged one foreclosure filing for every 32 households, the product of a building boom that collided with high-risk loans and thousands of borrowers willing to stretch their finances too far to buy a house. In the first half of last year, the city had one of the nation's worst foreclosure rates.''
