"When Countrywide Financial Corp. Chief Executive Angelo Mozilo needs cash to fund home loans these days, he doesn't look to investment banks in New York or London. He relies mainly on the quasigovernmental Federal Home Loan Bank in Atlanta."

Don't ya just love when someone has left a Depression-era bailout/reconstruction program simply lying around for 80 years, to be used again with no public deliberation for the next economic blowup?

We hate to be worrywarts, but we feel compelled to point out that the program, like all the others tried in that era, never actually helped us get out of the Depression.
