'Automatic teller machines in Venezuela began dispensing on New Year’s Day a new set of bills, with colours including light blue, orange, green and pink. The largest denomination bill, 100 bolivars, bears the image of independence hero Simon Bolivar, who Chavez says inspires the "21st century socialism" he intends to bring about in Venezuela. The new bolivar scraps three zeros from the currency and leaves the official exchange rate peg at VEB2.15 to the US dollar, against the current VEB2,150.'
