"The SECs rule change banning naked short selling in Fannie, Freddie, and the Primary Dealers was just a gummit show, since naked shorting is illegal to begin with. It was a rule that us little guys already had to comply with. We can’t short when there’s no stock available. But the big brokerages, ironically some of those on the list, were allowing some of their big hedge fund customers to engage in it with a wink and a nod and a nice fee too boot. There’s nothing here other than a little sabre rattling and ass covering so that gummit officials can say, “Look, we’re doing something"
