European hedge fund launches down 45%

This represents a decline of 45 per cent and is the lowest figure since the first half of 2002 when just 84 funds were launched.

The size of assets raised was also down by 30 per cent, falling to $10.8 billion, which is the lowest recorded inflow of capital to the sector since the same period in 2004.
