the US auto makers should all file bankruptcy in 2009 and use this occassion to bust the UAW once and for all, dump all the underproductive union controlled production plants (eg Lordstown) and re-invent themselves with lower labor costs and new high mpg models. Permalink

Wouldn't it be better to raise the tariffs on foreign cars? I know that flies in the face of the religion of Free Trade but its either pay out of pocket to subsidize the car manufacturers or adjust the marketplace at no cost to the taxpayer.
