Massive programs need to be cut and pension benefits must be brought under control.'' -- Alternatively, they could just drop lots of employees to half time, which would be like furloughs 5 times as extensive as the ones they've done.

People still demand too much from government & don't seem to understand that states can't print money to pay for all the goodies (unlike the Feds). The first thing to go when government is cut are protections for the weak & helpless. The rich & privileged benefit first because there is no cop on the beat to reign in their greedy scams.
