" n the face of mounting job losses with the only real demand coming from cash for clunkers and other silly stimulus programs doomed to fail, it should not be surprising to anyone for retail sales to drop. Nonetheless, Bloomberg notes the following surprise: Sales Unexpectedly Decrease as Job Losses Mount."

I for one am highly offended by the cash for clunkers program. Poor people who ride buses & will never have a chance to own a new car are paying for the middle class to get a new car out of their taxes. And let's talk about the mortgage deduction while we're at it. These same poor people are paying more taxes so that the middle class can pay less just because they own a home. Is that fair? This same pampered group (middle & upper class) can even deduct a second home when many Americans will never have a chance to own a first home. This unfairness flies in the face of our stated national ideals & has the potential to break the country. The he!! with change we can believe in; let's get some fairness back into the game before it's too late. Permalink

To TV sterling: Just a quick note: If you are poorer than the middle class you do not pay income taxes. The people picking up the tab will be businesses, and the "super rich" making over $250,000 per year, and little kids when they grow up, remember. In addition, you will soon be getting free health care, and the average home price will soon be dropping to about $14,700 so hang in there. Permalink
