The orthodoxy says that we must maintain the FED's independence. What independence? All the way thru the Bush nightmare the FED couldn't jump fast or high enough when Bush ordered. If they WERE independent they would have stood up to the Texas Bungler. It's either that or they were & are incompetent. Either way there needs to be serious changes made.
