Scott Brown's victory in Massachusetts will not endure unless Republicans clearly understand the meaning of "the machine" that he ran against and defeated.

Yes, it is about a general revulsion at government spending, what is sometimes called "the blob." But blobs are shapeless things, and in the days ahead we will see the Obama White House work hard to reshape the blob into a deficit hawk. Unless the facade is ripped away, the machine will survive.

You are forgetting who controls this machine & who gives the orders. Let's take two examples (not from finance). The Clinton's handlers & sponsors were Tyson Inc (of chicken fame). To this day NO corporations or their supervisory employees have ever been charged with deliberately hiring & recruiting (in Mexico) of illegal aliens. The illegals are worked like dogs & there are a standard number betrayed to immigration periodically to make the numbers look good (also to weed out malcontents & terrorize the rest). Before all of this meat packing jobs were unionized & as good as auto worker's jobs. Now let's look to Bush the younger; his handlers were Monsanto (the chemical giant). Now it is illegal to grow soybeans in this country without buying your seeds from Monsanto. Soybeans are one of our most important crops. Monsanto owns the genetic patent on Roundup resistant genes. Even if you attempt to grow non resistant soybeans your neighbor's beans will 'contaminate' your crop & Monsanto unleashes it's lawyer-dogs on you & puts you out of business. Many of Monsanto's tactics are patently anti-American & unconstitutional but the courts seem to be putting Monsanto ahead of the constitution. Honest farmers who just don't want Monsanto's product are terrorized & driven to the wall. You need to look beyond simplistic neo laisse-faire approaches. I wonder who Obama's handlers are?
