``Mortgage activists and amateur lawyers especially in Florida, who may have MERS named as a nominee on their mortgage think they can bring litigation against MERS and trace the ownership of the note from origination to the current owner looking for a break in the chain of assignments. This is futile and a waste of time because in most cases the assignments weren’t filed with the counties like they were supposed to be... Once you find out who the trust and trustee are, look through the trust to see if your note is in there. If it’s not in there, then it’s game over for the Trustee and the servicer. If it is, then back track through the assignments to look for a break.''
