I’m not necessarily closed to a safe harbor proposal for vacant properties, but I’m just as open to letting those illegally foreclosed from those properties back into them, assuming the mortgage as unsecured debt, and tightening the total amount of housing stock available. The law must rule here, rather than some phony set of circumstances that allows criminality to go through unremarked. It’s separate to the question of how to best serve homeowners or the housing market in general. People have to go to jail."
