RAB Capital, one of the early hedge fund sufferers from the financial crisis, is getting ready to re-open its special situations fund that caused most of its problems... When it opens again, the fund will be refocused on natural resources, RAB said. RAB is trying to recast itself as a natural resources firm as it seeks to attract investor inflow. It is about to launch a two new UCITS funds: one for global mining and other natural resources, the other for gold. The special situations fund got into trouble when it put a big bet on U.K. lender Northern Rock, which was nationalized in 2008. ''
