He used the phrase "hard money" to speak of a gold standard of the kind the Founders of America had in mind.''

The article doesn't come out and say it, but this is just a foil. The whole reason Gingrich is calling for another gold commission is that he wants to ride the wave of economic discontent out there and co-opt one of Ron Paul's key planks. Calling for "more study" is the perfect way to do that, but as the article points out, the issue has been studied six ways to Sunday.
