There have been several factors that have caused renting to rise. One certainly is that homeowners who went through foreclosure have often become renters. There are also many though who are renters by choice, either through fear of home prices continuing to fall, or those who feel that they can get a better deal renting. Whatever the reason, at least in Phoenix, the number of renters continues to rise.
