On July 25 he wrote: "In the 30 years or so that I have been writing about world affairs and the international economy, I have never seen a more dangerous confluence of circumstances, or more remarkable complacency".'' -- Many of Evans-Pritchard's remarks are dead-on, but on others he seems hilariously off-base if not clueless (like the claim that the US has "recovered", or his vexation at the fact that the Chinese government is encouraging gold buying by its citizens...) We suspect his views represent a kind of insulated "Anglo-American" upper-echelon consensus (though not one that is entirely hostile to gold). At any rate, rarely does Ambrose get in front of a camera, so this is certainly interesting.
