``At least 500 feet of copper power cables were missing from around 12 locations on the A train line when MTA officials discovered the theft at 11:22 p.m. Tuesday. Signal equipment and track components were also found to be damaged because electrical current was unable to flow through the missing cable, according to the MTA.
