The Dow Jones Industrial Average has suffered a third-straight quarterly decline for the first time since the Great Recession. This marks just the third time in nearly 40 years that a quarterly losing streak for the blue-chips benchmark stretched at least that long. The last time the Dow had a three-quarter losing streak was the six-quarter stretch ending the first quarter of 2009. Before that, there was a five-quarter losing streak ending with the first quarter of 1978, according to FactSet data.
