Tourists who help drowning migrants face prosecution

It is part of a drive to seal the border between Greece and Turkey as fears grow that EU policies to stem the flow of migrants, driven by governments such as Germany, are undermining international law on refugees.

Confidential documents seen by Statewatch, a European civil liberties watchdog, reveal that EU interior ministers could criminalise as "smugglers" charities, local people and volunteers who have been helping refugees and migrants.
