Only China Can "Fix" Venezuela

``President Maduro is asking for aid from the U.N. But he should instead turn to a more proximate cause of his problems. China should take responsibility by immediately airlifting $80 billion in food and other emergency aid to its destitute and misled ally. This should be a gift and not a loan. It should not prop up Maduro's corrupt regime, but rather be accompanied by pressure for Maduro to step down and return Venezuela to a democracy that can start repairing itself with free market economic reforms, combined with progressive taxation to avoid future humanitarian crises. But that is unlikely. China does not seem to care about Venezuela's poor. China cares about the Venezuelan elites that it needs to operate the country for resource extraction and its mercantilist benefit.''
