A Canadian hedge fund manager has been accused of participating in a conspiracy that brought down boutique investment firm Evergreen Capital Partners last year.

Penson Financial Services Canada, Evergreen’s clearing firm, sued Brendan Kyne, alleging that he and two friends employed a scam that sandbagged Evergreen with money-losing trades, costing Penson C$33 million (US$30.4 million) when the firm collapsed in October, the Globe and Mail reports.
