Social Security isn't broke it's just been robbed blind. It's been used as a slush fund by Washington over the decades & now that has come home to roost. First, Claw back all the stolen money. Second, Pass a modest increase in the withholding. Third, Pass a bullet proof law forbidding any more raiding of the fund for pet projects or anything else. Additionally There should be separate retirement accounts not connected in any way to Social Security with solid tax advantages (IRAs & 401K are so wimpy) & not allowed for risky investments (like the Stock Market).
