RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A federal appeals court refused Wednesday to order a new trial for a former mortgage company executive convicted of orchestrating a nearly $3 billion fraud scheme.

Lee B. Farkas of Ocala, Fla., was sentenced to 30 years in prison after being convicted last year on 14 fraud and conspiracy counts. Farkas owned the now-defunct
