The leaders of Germany, Russia, France and Ukraine on Wednesday agreed on a road map designed to revive the halting peace plan for Eastern Ukraine at a highly anticipated meeting in Berlin.

The agreement included the withdrawal of troops in four additional areas in the conflicted Donbass region and an expansion of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) monitoring mission, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said at a joint news conference with French President François Hollande early Thursday morning. The foreign ministers of the four countries are to discuss the road map in more detail in November, Merkel said.
